EZ FLIGHT Ocean Republic BA

Welcome to EZ Flight Ocean Republic, a flight-simulator program! This program was designed after the U.S. Navy, the Blue Angels, for the purpose of recreation and entertainment. The planes are not too difficult to maneuver. After learning the following simple set of key/mouse controls, the planes would fly according to your command. Push the button below. The scenery below is a city floating on the sea, the Ocean Republic*.

*)For the details about the city "Ocean Republic", please visit the following link. (The city (i.e. the artificial island) was designed to alleviate the global food and energy crisis. It is an independent project from the EZ FLIGHT simulator program that I am undertaking.)

Key / Mouse Controls

* If key control does not work, please try to tap the window of the movie once by mouse.

EZ Key Function Finder

Key "A"
Turn on and off “Auto-Pilot mode.” The default is option is on. As you click on key A, the plane would alternate between “Auto-Pilot mode” and “Manual mode.” The plane you would be sitting in is the Plane #4. However, regardless of the format of flight (either in formation or solo), the plane(s) would fly in accord to your command.

(Note: By combining this flight simulator program with other software program(s), you can make this “Auto-Pilot mode” into a screensaver. However this would consume your computer's memory.Note that in the default setting, sound is on. )

Key "C"
This key would turn the switch of “auto-camera” on and off. Basically, the camera here refers to the different views of flight. The program would automatically change the view for you, as the planes fly over the sky. You can turn off auto-camera with the Key C to change it to the manual mode. In manual mode, you would have control over as to which views of flight you would like to have. For the details of different kinds of views, refer to the explanation below.

Number Keys 1 ~ 9
These number keys are for the changes of camera (i.e. views) positions when you are on manual mode. Once you choose a certain view, the camera's position would stay as it is, until you change it by hitting another number key or the key C (which would change it to “auto-camera” mode). You can switch the view from cameras.

1.Fom the deck of the air carrier.
2 .From the head of the formation,
3 .From tale of the formation
4.Island view
5. The view that rotates around the formation.
6.From near the formation.
7 From just above the cockpit of the Plane #4.
8. From the head of formation.
9 .The planes would run into you and pass.

Backspace key
The camera's position would change in the order outlined in the keys 1 ~ 9 each time you press the backspace key.

Arrow keys
They would shift the position of camera (view). No.1,2,3,5 and 7 cameras are effective. With the key-7 camera setting, you can move the camera to inside your cockpit by using the arrow key facing down (i.e. ). Some kind of key boards can not be effective.

The +, - (minus) and space keys
They would control the speed of the planes. The + is for acceleration (up to twice as fast the original speed); the – (minus) and space keys are for deceleration. Since the program does not take gravity into account, it is also possible for you to stop in the midair. (But note that, when speed falls to zero, mouse movement would not influence the movement of the planes.)

Mouse control
You can control the movement of the planes by using a mouse. The planes would move in the parallel direction with the mouse (e.g. right, left, front and back).

Key "S"
This key would enable you to alternate between the formation flight(delta formation, diamond formation )and solo flight. The default setting is delta formation flight. The functions and activities that you can perform in both kinds of flights are the same.

Key "B"
This key would turn on and off the background music. The default setting is on, and the six default music would repeat forever in an order. You can change the order in which the music is played by simply changing the order of music files.

L: Launch stand by
Taxing
Catapulb launching
R: Runway takeoff stand by

Key "L" (Launching at the aircraft carrier, stand by)
After pressing the key L for about two times, the plane would be on the middle of the aircraft carrier. Push “+ key” once to start taxing. It would start out slowly. Use mouse to move to one of the catapults on the carrier (there are three catapults in total). (For your reference, at this stage, the key-7 camera is most fitting.) Set the planes parallel to the black line of a catapult. Press the “Space key” to halt. The planes would start flying once you press “Enter.” The planes would be on manual mode. Use mouse to control the movement of the planes and successfully take off. (Camera 1, 2, 7 are the best for take-off.)

Notes:

  • Sometimes planes take off somewhat vertically
  • They have no landing gears.
  • You can take off from both as a part of the formation or a solo pilot.
  • If you press the key A when the planes are on a catapult area, it would turn to the “auto-pilot” mode and start flying like VTOL
  • In general, you can take off from any area on the deck of the air carrier, even outside of the catapults.
    .

Key "R" (Runway taking off , stand by)
The planes would move to the end of a runaway on an artificial island, after you press the key R twice. Press “Enter key” to take off. In the default setting, the planes would be in manual mode; use mouse to control the planes and successfully take off from the island. You can also change the speed.

Notes:

  • Sometimes planes take off somewhat vertically.
  • They have no landing gears.
  • You can take off from as a part of the formation or a solo pilot.
  • If you press the key A when the planes are on a ground, it would turn to the “auto-pilot” mode and start flying like VTOL
  • In general, you can take off from any area of the runway or island or sea surface.

"Enter" key
This key would enable the plane(s) to take off from the aircraft carrier or the runway..For details, read Key L and Key R sections.

"ESC" (Escape) key
It would end/stop the flight. To restart, click on the button you pressed to open the program.

Landing and Take offs
1) Landing ( on land / on deck)
You can land on both the aircraft carrier and the island. To land, direct your plane towards the destination and decelerate using “- (minus) key” or “Space key.” You can land only when the planes and the ground are in parallel. (To check if they are in parallel, use the key-7 camera. If the horizon in the view is in the middle of your screen, your plane and the ground are in parallel.) Note that when the planes' speed falls to zero, you cannot use mouse to control the movement of the plane. If you land successfully, you would see that you are just above the ground. If you do not land successfully, the planes would still be floating from the ground or it would look as though you are buried into the ground. (In case of landing with other planes in formation, some plane might seem as though they are floating.) When you are landing on the air carrier, the planes would automatically stop when they comes across the hook. Note that regardless of the place you are landing, landing gears do not come out.

2) Take off
Press “+ (plus) key.” The planes would start moving. Bring the planes to one of the launch or start point.. Use mouse to move the planes to right or left and designate the direction to which you want the planes to take off. As you press on the “+ (plus) key” to accelerate, pull the mouse towards yourself for a second. The planes would take off.

Hints for playing
1) Amusement hints.

  • Seeing the flight of the "Digital Fighters"
    (Flight Simulator Therapy)
  • Making it as the screen saver.
(There are some software making html as screen saver. BGM will be played. Much memory will be used.)

2) It may become easy to look by changing the viewpoint of the camera. For example, it can travel the No.1 camera to a bridge deck with "arrow keys". When a carrier is a going straight state, and formation is to the line of the carrier, you can travel the camera to the bridge deck with arrow keys. As for the camera attached to a body, Also cameras attached to planes are movable. On some kind of key board it will not work properly.

3) The change of the window size is possible by changing 4 corners of the window with a mouse. When movement is not smooth, please make a window size a little small.

4) The air carrier goes around the front of the artificial island in the left rotation, competition truck ground form. When it becomes a deck landing mode (formation approaches), it automatically becomes the stop state.
