To install this version of the .NET Documentation Tool, double-click on the setup.exe file. This will install the .NET Documentation Tool and associated support files. The application will then be accessible from the Start menu (the default location will be Start > Programs > .NET Documentation Tool). The product documentation (in HTML Help format) will also be accessible from the start menu.

System Requirements - Prerequisites

The Extras folder within this ZIP file contains a number of related utilities you may need to install:

• htmlhelp.exe: Microsoft HTML Help Workshop 1.3. You must install this if you wish the .NET Documentation Tool to create documentation in HTML Help format. It is recommended you install this in the default location of C:\Program Files\HTML Help Workshop.

The following are required for the .NET Documentation Tool's Graphical User Interface to run properly, but they are usually already installed on most PCs, particularly if they are used for software development.

• VB6.0-KB290887-X86.exe: Visual Basic runtime libraries (SP6 version).
• scripten.exe: Microsoft Windows Script (the file installs version 5.7).

If you want to document databases associated with .NET code then the Microsoft Data Access Components must be installed. [They are normally already installed on developer PCs].

Limitations in Evaluation Version

The Evaluation Version of the .NET Documentation Tool is a cut-down version of the full version and has the following limitations:

• Only the first 150 lines of source code are shown for each file.
• No application source code is available.
• There is no text output option.
• Annoying pop-up window on source code pages.
• This version can only be used for evaluation purposes.
• Not all XML comments are shown in the XML and RTF reports.

Your registration code will allow you to download the .NET Documentation Tool for up to 18 months after the date of purchase (3 years for site licenses). During this time you are entitled to any new versions that may be released.

The DotNetDocumentationTool.exe file is created by IndigoSTAR Software's Perl2Exe and contains run-time portions of Perl2Exe. No registered user, nor anyone else, may alter or modify the generated Exe file. You cannot give anyone else permission to modify the Exe files.
