Using the morphing window
To open the morphing window:
- Select from the menu Tools > Morph...
Morphing operations
- Translate
- All model vertices are translated to map a given point to the origin. The coordinates of the point that will be mapped to the origin can be typed into the boxes. Or the triangle to the right of the boxes can be used to get calculated points such as the corner or center of the bounding box, or various centroids. Once the coordinates of the new origin have been entered into the form, press the Translate button to effect the transformation.
- Rotate
- All model vertices are rotated about the specified axis. The axis is assumed to pass through the origin. The rotation angle is specified in degrees. Once the rotation axis and angle have been entered into the form, press the Rotate button to effect the transformation.
- Scale
- All model vertices are scaled by the specified amounts. The scaling leaves the origin unmoved. If the Isotropic checkbox is ticked, the y and z scales will be locked equal to the x scale. Once the scale parameter(s) have been entered into the form, press the Scale button to effect the transformation.
- Mirror x, y, or z
- Press, for example, the Mirror x button to mirror all vertices through the x=0 plane (mapping x to -x). The polygons in the mesh are inverted and normals are recalculated.
- Mirror all
- Press the Mirror all button to mirror all vertices through the origin (mapping x to -x, y to -y, z to -z). The polygons in the mesh are inverted and normals are recalculated.
Any of the above transformations can be undone from the Edit menu. This does not restore the initial mesh, but rather performs the inverse transformation.
